The Writing Box

Fifteen-year old Julia lives in New York with her conservative parents, Peter and Ana Kilmere. Each summer she spends visiting her grandmother who lives on a Caribbean island thirty-seven miles wide. This summer had been like past ones, except for her last night on the island.

 Her grandmother gave her an unusual and exotic gift. entered with an intricately designed box with a sloped lid. It looked otherworldly. was ending up like all the others, except on her last night, her grandmother gives her an exotic ancestral gift from India – a writing box. But Julia lives in the digital age, she imagines its only use would be for keepsakes and trinkets.

But when an accident, an announcement and three dinner guests forever change her ideas of family, safety and security, she finds she has more need for it than she ever thought.

When Pandora opened the box, it released great and unexpected troubles into the world. But what happens when trouble walks right through the door by neither curiosity nor invitation? Would the writing box help Julia to cope, to gain perspective and to restore order to her inner world?
