Overture to Murder

The curtain comes down on murder in the third novel of the Julia Kogan Opera Mystery series. Gifted young violinist and amateur sleuth Julia is under inordinate amounts of pressure as she fills in for the ailing San Francisco Opera concertmaster, Ben, who has suffered serious injuries in a hit and run accident—which Julia suspects might not have been accidental. Then a prominent company member becomes the victim of a grisly murder and, as in her previous sleuthing at the Metropolitan Opera and Santa Fe Opera, Julia cannot resist becoming involved in the investigation. Julia again discovers that fiery artistic temperaments and offstage conflicts conspire with the danger lurking in the dark hallways and back stairways of an opera house to provide a chilling backdrop for murder. This time, however, Julia is horrified to find that her sleuthing places both her and her child in the sights of the murderer. She must race against time to find the killer and save the life of her most precious family member.
