A True Life story!  Growing up in 19th century Ireland had few prospects especially for young girls.  So when Bridget is given the chance to work with her aunts in New York she doen't need asking twice.  At the age of 18 she makes the trip across the Atlantic.  But she quickly realises that dressmaking isn't for her and she finds a new role to suit her personality,  Then one of the many people she works for asks her to accompany him to Italy as his nurse/companion.
