I always thought I would communicate in the world as a writer. As a child I was a voracious reader and knew someday I would pen a great novel. Life sometimes takes unexpected turns, and I attended broadcasting school instead of a four-year college.  I spent numerous years having fun, spinning records, interviewing people, and doing love song dedications. I had a ball until…

The U.S. Congress passed the Telecommunications Act of 1996, which allowed broadcast corporations to own multiple radio stations in the same market. The gobbling began, and soon behemoth broadcasting corporations ate up radio stations like locusts in a wheat field. And radio announcers like me were axed on bloody Fridays with surgical precision. I was working for a small radio station for chump change. Something had to give. I left radio, went to work for the US Federal Government. I had a successful career there and just recently retired. Now I spend my waking hours fulfilling my lifelong dream of being a successful writer.
