James began writing at the age of 19, shortly after being diagnosed with dyslexia. Rather than allowing it to limit him, he leaned into storytelling, imagination, and world-building, drawing inspiration from epic fantasy and dark speculative fiction, particularly the works of J.R.R. Tolkien and Stephen King.
Over the past twenty years, James has built the interconnected worlds of Pangea, resulting in two epic fantasy series, The Pangean Chronicles and The Shadows of Pangea. These books were written alongside a full-time career in teaching in the south east of England, often in the margins of busy family life.
James is a devoted father of three and a passionate advocate for creativity, literacy, and outdoor learning. When he is not writing or teaching, he can usually be found outdoors, working in his garden or walking the Ashdown Forest with his family.
